I've had that happen once. But if the search doesn't work, then you try again, wait a few minutes, or use the Google search at the top of the site.
It's not very frequent, however.

Personally, I've had problems with the search engine too, I do get what I want to find 99% of the time, however when I search for certain topics which I know exists, it doesn't come up on the search. For example, when I searched the very same post which I posted, and its just on the next tab on Internet Explorer, it comes up with some random stuff and following that the omitted search option, but without the desired search.

Another failure of the search function is that if you don't use more than 3 words, it doesn't work.

Example: I hacked & faked Gem TD X-mas. Now, try to search for it. GG fail.
