Move around smarter When choosing a car shop for the most practical car you can. It’s true that some people need trucks and some people even need vans but nobody needs a big car like a hummer. Choosing to walk or take public when you can helps reduce green house gases.1. Choosing to walk or take public transit helps reduce greenhouse emissions by one car!2. Must SUVs do not leave the city.3. Choosing to don't click me an electric car such as a hybrid or buying a gas efficient car can save you money and help reduce green house emissions.4. By shopping closer to home you reduce the amount of time spent traveling which saves you time and reduces greenhouse gasses. You also support your local businesses.5. If your moving it’s practical to move to a place which is close to where you work. Same for your dentist, doctor, and optometrist, the closer they are the more gas you save.
The Food you Eat Choosing what you eat, where you eat, and where your food comes from can help you become healthier and help reduce the amount of carbon emissions from animals. Locally grown organic produce is the best and is chemical pesticide free.1. Going vegan isn’t as hard as it seems if you do some research first such as finding some recipes you think you may enjoy.2. Organic produce contain no pesticides.3. When you plant flora choosing native species ensures they will grow without the need of extra chemicals.4. If you need to use pesticides try to find a non-toxic alternative.5. When discarding toxic chemical pesticides make sure you dispose of them properly or the toxins may end up polluting landfills.
Maximize Energy Effciency Making energy efficient choices can help you save money. Changes go from sealing up openings, insulating, choosing energy efficient appliances, and using CFL light bulbs.1. 40% of all heat loss is due to openings in your house a draft can get in.2. By insulating your roof, floors, walls, basements you can become cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter!3. CFL light bulbs are 75% more efficient than normal conventional light bulbs.4. Buying energy efficient appliances saves you electricity, refrigerators now save 40% more electricity compared to their 1993 and before ancestors.5. All your chargers such as one for your computer or phone use electricity even when they aren’t in use. This is called Phantom Electricity.
Keeping an eye on transgenic crops In North America for the past decade people have been eating transgenic crops. Transgenic crops are genetically modified crops and most people don’t even know they are eating them!1. Some transgenic crops have been modified to resist certain chemicals allowing farmers to spray the chemical freely. Even though the chemical does not affect the crop itself it affects all of the animals in the area.2. Some plants have been genetically modified with a bacterium known as BT creates insecticides reducing cost and uses farming methods which makes them more environmentally friendly.3. Crops with the bacterium BT (built in insecticide as stated above) are found with more insecticide then when using plants without BT.4. The manufacturers of GMO crops do not release their papers on the effect the crop has in an eco system.5. Lab test shows that pollen from BT crops harm the non-targeted insect, making them grow slower or make reproduction cycles slower. 6. Even with all the evidence shown that BT crops harm non-targeted insects overall it is less harmful than farmers spraying pesticides.`
