At my (boarding!) school they never realized when people were smoking pot, even though the signs were so obvious. They probably knew, but tolerate it - idk for sure. From the perspective of the teacher waking them up in the morning since they overslept it must have looked like:

Trying to open the door - there is some weird resistance since they placed a wet towel in front of the door/ground slit to stop the pot smell from escaping to the corridor.
Waking them up - They both overslept... and both have weird red eyes -> Allergies they say...
