I am pretty sure thats how it'll look. They did announce that it doesn't require glasses but will be 3D. This isn't the real thing. This video is for the DSi that works with the camera.

Yeah it is - when I was at this years CeBIT (Worlds largest computer expo) I saw several solutions for that. One that was really impressing me used some foil on a normal apple mac screen and you could even walk around to see the image from several positions. Glasses usually can't do that anyway. The DSi demo isn't seen 3d anyway, it just tracks your head but both of your eyes see the same image - the thing I saw at CeBIT had different images for each eye and supported several perspectives. But man - somehow it doesn't surprise me there are better technologies than those 15 year old shutter glasses nvidia sells now.

I believe the general idea of the 3DS is that the two screens flicker in a pattern to trick your eyes into seeing a 3D image, similar to how the glasses work on the new 3D movies but without actually using glasses. Flickering the screens instead of filters in front of your eyes.

Wouldn't work - imho the only way to do a 3d effect with "normal" screens is by using a prism foil thing. The flicker thing only works since the glasses black out the eyes alternating, so each eye only sees its image.

Can't they have a screen on the bottom, and a screen on the top to give the perspective of multiple dimensions?

Ofc they could but most people wouldn't want to learn eye gymnastics to look at the upper screen with their left and the lower one with their right eye. I can do it but I really hate it, it takes like 10 minutes till I can see normal again once I did it. They already have two screens btw.
