i would like to edit a map without deprotect since many peoples said that deprotect spoils the map and it will make it unplayable then someone said that it is possible to edit a map without deprotect. so i'm asking is there any guide that can teach me how to edit a map without deprotecting n damaging the map? including the triggers please. if there is none, i'm requesting for it.

actually i want to discuss the map creator but i can't contact the map creator since this map died long time ago

No, you cannot have access to the triggers. In order for you to edit it, you need a restored or unprotected version... Also deprotecting maps does not necessarily ruin them, that only happens to some maps;however, in some cases you may not be able to save changes you make to the deprotected map.

If I got anything wrong, please feel free to correct me, elder users.

This is somewhat misleading. What they mean is that no, you don't have access to the GUI. The JASS, on the other hand, you do have access to...which is all you'll ever have access to in any event, short of recreating the GUI.

In most cases deprotecting will make the map unsaveable and unplayable in warcraft. You can edit the JASS and import it back into the original map without any problems.

One thing to try after deprotecting a map is to extract all the files from that map. Then make a new map in World editor. Now try importing all the files into the new map in WE. see if it works and if it's saveable and playable.

I was successful using this method on a map that was otherwise not able to be opened in WE. I could have edited different portions of the map (units, or abilities for example) and just imported them back into the map, but the method above was much easier.

Oh dear Lord. Try importing the files into a new map.

What do you want to edit?
If its the triggers then depritecting won't help as you can't convert the triggers back to the GUI mode and can edit the .j file instead.

Depritecting a map won't make it unplayable. I rebuild maps using xdep and they work.
