My PC started freezing at random times. Yet only while gaming. 2 games actually and both aren't very heavy ....
It happens when I play about an hour of BF3 (where I have 60 FPS on 1080p and ultra textures but low on everything else) I tried running it on 720p and all settings are on the lowest. Still 60 FPS but it freezes.
Other game is wolfenstein enemy territory. A very old game that doesn't have a lot of requirements freezes.
I can play heavier games such as metro last light and it won't freeze.
I tried switching the RAM with my older 2x2GB and it still happens. I tried to re-update my drivers as I updated them recently but intel are being dicks and want me to use their driver finder utility, also didn't help.
What could be the source of the problem?

Also, if it is of any indication. When the image freezes, the sound is looped around the last bit it heard and I can only reset the PC from the case button.

When you play BF3, (or any other games that freeze), could you check your GPU temps after playing for a while?

Sure. I'll be able to post on Friday I believe.
But why will it overheat when playing light games and not heavy games?

To be honest, I have no idea. Nonetheless, it's worth checking, I think.

You're sayin' that your PC freezes. Hmm,.. Is your HDD Led all the time during the freezing active[Lighting] ?
If your answer is yes, then your HDD is a problem. It stuck all of your active apps and so on. Try Defragmenting it and Scan from viruses.
Same happens to me, and my HDD was bought nearly 6 months ago!

And, for the overheating, Try checking your Graphic card, blow it out :D [Meant Clean it], Use a Thermal Paste [compound as if I'm not wrong] over the chipset, processor, and so on[the most important chips].
BTW,. Use a software to detect from where is your PC's high Temperature.
There might be more reasons, I've listed only few, as far as I can remind/do remember how to solve them.

Go.0D Luck!

Around 70 degrees (c) a minute or two before it happened

You probably just need the right drivers, Windows has been really kind lately in finding them for me via Windows Update! :D

Amd and intel started being dicks regarding drivers. They do not allow manual driver download but want me to download a tool that will detect my hardware for drivers... which aint working so good.
Although I did update about a month or 2 ago

Have no idea what you're talking about in regards to AMD drivers. Intel...yeah, sounds like them. Why would you know about AMD drivers anyway - don't you have an nVidia GPU(s)?

+1 Rep for me If you've seen
"German Porn" above, in the attachment :D
p.S I don't know if the freezing is Software error(missunderstanding ) :D or so on, but a Hardware defect, malfunction.
** Tried attaching Cooling Fans to it? Defragmented it? Is it still happening? Does your RED LED light, lights when your PC freezes? Check CPU ? GPU Temp, add a thermal compound to 'em, aaand Try adding a FAN to your HDD, just incase if it's "Overheated".
Don't know how else can help!
