Bios problem

Post by tengumaru93 »

For some reason, I can't change some of the settings in my bios, like the quiet boot, same with what would the pc boot from. Since I have a Windows 8 installer, and instead of a cd, I decided I'd burn it into the usb instead, but since I can't change some of the bios' settings, I don't know how to continue. My bios has a password set to it, I've set it before.
Do you guys have any solution to this?
Thanks in advance.

You can always try to flash your bios all over again. But thats not safe.

Unplug the PC, remove the BIOS battery (Likely a button cell) and leave it like that for a day. After that the BIOS password is no more, though you will also have to set the computers time again. ;)

I don't know how'd I do this since I don't have a cd with me as of the moment, and the only settings I could edit in the BIOS are the system time, BIOS password and HDD password.

So I'd have to disassemble my lappy for that, well ok, I'll see if that helps too. Thanks

[EDIT]
@GeorgeMots I tried downloading a BIOS update for my pc, though it had to be ran from my desktop, no problems were caused but no problems were fixed either. It just said that, "do you want to flash BIOS?" I clicked yes, pc lags then update program runs. Then my PC shutdowns properly, though a bit longer, I tried accessing the BIOS, but still, only the System Time and Date, and BIOS and HDD passwords are the only ones that could be changed.

It's an Insyde Bios.

Yeah BIOS updates won't do anything, you have to clear the CMOS which is the battery backed memory the BIOS uses.

Insyde bios are a pain. I had that on my acer laptop. Unlocking is the only option for you. Perhaps a bit more details on the model so i can get you a custom bios.
