AVG found several viruses that Kasperky didnt. You have to read the whole sentence.

I did, but latly I just don't treat what people say regarding viruses, as most of the times (excuse me, all the time) I heard some one saying he found a virus, he actually found a THREAT!, not the same ;)
Finding a virus aint the problem, getting it out, well you rather just format your windows (no viruses for linux, so thats the best AV imo ;))))))

I am sure at the time I changed to AVG, I had a LOT of software on my computer and half of those cracks were filled with Viruses that Kaspersky didnt find. Even if they were only Treats, Kaspersky didnt find them.

Oddly enuff, I get a popup about 2-3 times a day now asking me about a program on my computer that I have already said it is safe.

you all jinxed me.

I agree, they say Linux and Mac os don't get viruses that windows get. Also I switched from AVG(from being my first AV) to Norton(I found a 6month crack for it lol) and finally Avast. The reason I switched from avg is that, it swipes viruses without you being able to stop it at first it will give you a warning saying hey, it's a virus then you'll ignore it 'cause its a false positive(bots, trainers, cracks) and you need it. But in a couple of hours or days, when you come searching for the file it's already gone! Where is it in the recycle bin? In its virus vault omg he stole it. When you try to retrieve it, yeah you'll retrieve it, use it, and enjoy it but after awhile it'll grab it away and hide in his Virus vault.

I switched from norton because, its not free, you have to pay for it, and you need a crack lol. Norton is really sensitive when it comes to updates. You forgot to update? It'll bombard you with pop-ups saying you have to f*cking update it's software(at that time I just came home without internet lol) every time. Yeah Norton is great because it has just the right level of security, not too strong nor not too weak to let in viruses but the thing is, it's firewall sometimes it's firewall trolls, not letting some of your cool online games to be played. You'll see, "I clicked the start button. Imma go pee for awhile then when you comeback, WTF I Pressed start and still nothing?".

Then I came back to avg, and had the same problems and then came it's errors. It has a Tray icon, yes every AV has. When you click it nothing, when you double click nothing when you triple click there it will open very laggy like you awakened it from a deep slumber.

So I decided to change, to avast. Very simple, you just need to register for free then renew again the following year. But theres a key you'll find in the internet that would work so that avast would expire in 2038. When he detects a virus he'll warn you, when you open it(if you trust the program) it'll give you options, To open it Sandboxed, normally or dont open at all. And this Av is not a thief, it won't steal your files and hide in its vault or quarantine.

I'll watch this thread and see your posts and try those AV's

I had tried Avast on my mom's computer and office was crashing. I thought it was offic, so I downgraded from 2007 to 2003 (I think those were the versions) and it was still crashing, so I was off to find a new AV. That was unfortunate, because my mom an dad laughed their asses off when the saw that it was activated the next 20 years.

Well maybe it's a compatibility issue. And yea i also laughed when i saw the it would be for more than 20 years lol my pc may be dead by that time.

I never trust free anti-virus, specially like AVG when they offer you plain better AV for a invalid. There is no interest what so ever to supply you with a free AV that works good. Its like a game company will a release a demo for a free2play game...

I'd recommend you Comodo Internet Security

Why ? Because it's free and fully featured !!
Also its the the BEST on the market when it comes to Proactive security and virus Prevention!
See for yourself..
-> http://www.matousec.com/projects/proact ... esults.php (you have to scroll down a bit to see the results)

Basically what their product is doing is preventing any virus trojan bot you name it to take root in your system in the first place!
There are thousands of new viruses with new signatures coming out everyday. And thats a big problem because most of the Av's or Security suits rely heavily on those signatures when catching malicious programms! And therein lies the issue because It's impossible for them to get all the signatures they need to provide you wiht full security. They update their definition base only after some of their users got already infected by such malicious programms.

Comodo on the other hand has the best Proactive security system there is on the market relying on definition based prevention only as a second resort! See all those neat little features that are being integrated or have been integrated into other security suits over the last year like Autosandboxing.. Comodo invented it and has been using it for YEARS !! Needles to say that those features in other Suits are far from being perfect or even usable and secure!

What comodo basically does is it checks files that you launch against it's huge list of whitelisted and digitally signed and from them approved vendors. If the file or the company that signed is not on their approved list it get automatically sandboxed. But wait thats not all because it is actually a dual sandbox !! What happens is the file gets put into the sandbox and has its privileges dropped which limits them to only non threatening actions (such as every other programm should have them) at the same time that file gets uploaded to the comodo servers scanned in the cloud by various antivirus vendors and is even reverse engeneered to determine if the file is save or could cause harm to your computer in under 15 minutes! if the file is found to be safe it is automatically moved out of the sandbox the next time you use the application!! and trust me that feature is amazing! it catches everything! They are so sure that their programm if you leave it at the standart settings is sooo good when it comes to preventing infections that they give you a 500$ virus free guarantee if you upgrade to their pro version which is a ridiculous 10 bucks a year! plus you get unlimited life support for all the issues concerning your pc for free in the pro version which includes everything about your pc tuning it up settings wise and personal virus removal ontop of that if you already have an infected pc and stuff! But i would recommend using only the Free version since you know .. the only real diference is the life support and the virus free thingy .. so not really worht it.
I tried it on my system and never looked back ( was a huge kaspersky fan at that time ) but i tested both by running them against zero day malware and kaspersky completely got disabled und unistalled by the malware while by using comodo not one not a single piece of malware got through.

They feature a proactive security test on their site which you can use to test your AV or Security suit .. you will be amazed about how many things go undetected by your Av/suit .. its horrid! Also about three years ago it was Comodo who caught new ways of intercepting keyboard activity and blocked it succesfully they noticed all the other Av vendors about that vulnerability because they were so severe but most of them took month to actually implement them into their own systems..

they also just released their new version comodo Internet security 6 which looks awesome and has a lot of new features I can only recommend checking it out :P

Ohh yeah and one thing i forgot to mention when you take a look at the site withe the proactive security testing. It's worth taking a look inside the atached pdf files for more information about the testing because some AV producers just shamelessly adapted their programms to catch just the specific exe files that are being used during the test and then failed because they also always use another slightly modified version of the same exe file to see if the AV's are just acting upon signature or the actuall behaviour process!
I at least was very shocked to find out most Av vendors just try to cheat on those kind of tests..

Some tests on the internet rate AV's after their ability to actually remove viruses from an already infected system (means you have an infected system and then download and install some Av to get rid of it) well comodo is not that good at removing already installed viruses simply because they splitted that off into another programm of theirs which is called Comodo cleaning essentials which works like a charm but simply never got tested by those companys well it is now integrated in Comodo 6 so im really looking forward to the next series of testings to be done in 2013 i'm convinced it will do a wonderfull job!

IF you are just looking for a plain AV protection.. without proactive security (which i wouldn't recommend)

I'd recommend you using Emsisoft Antimalware It has the best definition based detection rate among all AV's and a very sophisticated very very good malicious site blocker also the best on the market which pretty much limits your susceptibility of getting infected in the first place!

I'd also never rely on an Av to remove Viruses from a system.. for malware removel i would recommend:

-Malwarebytes Antimalware
-Hitman Pro
-Emsisoft Emergency Kit 3.0 (formerly asquared) [Basically a portable version of the Emsisoft anti malware thingy with no real time protection just scanning and removing of viruses)

and if thats not enough you can always scan with superantispyware (same as Malwarebytes but sometimes finds something Malwarebytes doesn't and vice versa though i would recommend Malwarebytes over it in terms of usability and detection/removal but you know sometimes you just want to make sure)

all the above mentioned programms are free and function terrific in the free (not pro version)

if your system is ever going to get infected.. just backup your data and wipe the partition or harddrive and install a new clean system .. removing viruses that integrate into system processes my leave your system unstable after the removal process

well thats it I'm not working for comodo btw I'm just excited by their programm which i found to be the very best of all Security suits
I tried them all btw so that hymn of praise im singing about it is resting on extensive testing and personal experience :)

good day everybody
