I cant recall much for XP, but type start--run--and type in "dxdiag". This should show you a few simple sys specs and video card specs.

Oh, and I think you can save the info and post it here.

Seems to be onboard Intel video with 128mb of ram.

The next question is what is the motherboard model? you would need it to see what video card would fit it. (more than likely a simple pci card). You would also need to know what voltage you need. I blew up a card once by having the wrong voltage.

I think the problem is somthing else.
When connecting a GPU there is the RGB/DVI slot at the back but the back of the PC is closed. So do I need to make a hole in it or something? And if so, will it ovveride the built in GPU ?

If you install a new video card, you have to pop out one of the tabs on the back of your computer housing. once installed, it MAY override the onboard video and you then have to just install the drivers.

If it doesnt automatically override, you will have to enter the BIOS on startup and then change the video card setings from on-board to PCI.

First we need the motherboard model number to see what it is capable of.

I already asked that. I love quoting myself.

What about nvidia optimus? Dxdiag won't show up if its a dual GPU. Try GPU-Z to make sure ;)

did you look at the specs of his computer? I highly doubt that it has a pci-x slot for such a card.
