...Not so cool sounding. What makes you think this?

Hopefully it happens in September, then we would get that Indian summer they've been promising for years :D

@Bart - Earth couldn't handle the heat, I mean it barely manages to cool down during nights already.

Even if this does happens, it will not be like having two of our suns. The light rays will be weaker (I think o.o). We will only be able to see it because it is going to explode. I am not sure how much going supernova intensifies the light produced, but it would have to be over 2000x (guessing, it is 1300 light years away and probably bigger than our sun. Ours is jut a baby :O) or so for it to feel the same as our sun to us.

Second sun suggests it's at least much brighter than the moon...

"They will flood through the Earth and bizarrely enough, even though the supernova we see visually will light up the night sky, 99 per cent of the energy in the supernova is released in these particles that will come through our bodies and through the Earth with absolutely no harm whatsoever,"
So, no burning the earth up. I guess supernovas don't emit as much infrared and UV rays?

Doesn't matter. Probably won't happen in our lifetimes.

It's a prediction ;), I'll not believe until I see it with my very own eyes (personal opinion).
