Uh kk, sounds like what the smaurai would do, but instead of cutting their stomach out with a blade, they would stab their sword into themselves instead. Or is that the same thing? If it is, damn that just made me sound like a retart.

It's also known as harakiri, and yes, it was originally only allowed to be performed by samurai. It was a way of killing themselves so they would retain their honour, instead of allowing themselves to be captured. Or if they had somehow shamed themselves, I believe.
