Title: The Guide From Hell

Trigger Help

Post by Draike »

First step is to understand the basics of the Trigger Editor. Those should be pretty easy to figure out after, oh, around 3-4 seconds of almost-intense observation. But if someone still doesn't get it, well, here's where you can get the whole show: http://world-editor-tutorials.thehelper ... iggers.php

The next step right after that is to understand variables, because those are extremely important, particularly if you don't want your map to lag like hell. Once again, those should be easily understood after, oh, a big 2 seconds of intense observation, assuming you haven't skipped your junior high grade 1 algebra. If you did skip it, though, you should check here: http://world-editor-tutorials.thehelper ... iables.php

Then, a lot of people use triggers simply to "enhance" their spells and abilities. Well, again, this should be simple most of the time if you can use your brain and understand the basics of triggers and variables, but some things might not always be obvious and sometimes you just don't know how to do something -- or that it's even possible to do it! So as a reference, check: http://world-editor-tutorials.thehelper ... view=28117

If you need information regarding specific elements or tasks for the Trigger Editor, you should check out the thehelper tutorials. Those can be found, well, here: http://world-editor-tutorials.thehelper.net/

If you have random simple questions about World Editor, you can check out the Battle.Net forums editor FAQ, here: http://www.battle.net/forums/war3/threa ... 211492&p=1

Once you've mastered the basics (or even if you haven't, but want to go further), you can check out the many useful quality tutorials over at WC3Campaigns.net. Here's a link for yer' convenience: http://wc3campaigns.net/tutorials.php?f=426

If all of that stuff is boring you to hell because it's too simple, or if you want to go even further, or if you want to do stuff that the regular trigger editor would make a pain in the *** to do because it would take painstakingly long, then I recommend using JASS. Some tutorials on JASS: http://wc3campaigns.net/tutorials.php?f=650

For JASS, I'd also recommend using Grimoire with addons. I'd particularly suggest Vexorian's JassNewGenPack, which can be found here: http://wc3campaigns.net/showthread.php?t=90999

Then for advanced JASS functions, ideas, references, lists of natives and other useful stuff, visit http://www.wc3jass.com/

Note: I would have been happy to explain and demonstrate everything there is about triggers myself, which would have saved you the pain of having to -- Oh Noes! -- click on the links and read up, but unfortunately I'd have white hair and an arced back before I'd be done, which would not be much more efficient. Triggering is just too vast to "explain", you have to trigger yourself and understand how they work, and then, well, you can start doing stuff and really talk about them.

Me, as a perfect example, is telling YOU, that you don't have to take any part in the Map-Cheating/Hacking department to become a Super-Mod (except the Near-Bee part)!
