 Post subject: edited map question.

Just want to know why cant I use edited map with other in bnet.

Is it possible to make edited map work with the normal map.

Think of it like this. Each map has it's own "code", and when you modify the map the "code" is different. And Battle.net compares the "codes" of your map and the host's map. If it's different, it asks you to redownload.

It IS possible to make the code the same again, but the cheats will be severely limited.

Then what need to be done on the map so it can work with normal one.

Does it check only war3map.xx files??

No, it's too complicated. Plus, most likely it will desync you. So pretty much, no way.

even i extract the .j file and put it back in
with out edit it. it still cant work.

Then what does it check?? filesize??
And i have not try it yet how do you know it
is too complicate for me >.<

It's not really a matter of checking things, it's a matter of information transfer. Say you're playing a map with cheats, and the others are playing the normal one. If you type -gold 500, you'll get 500 gold. However, since the other people don't have the cheats, there's a desynchronization of information. Your game would think you have 500 more gold than the other peoples' game thinks you have, and so it causes an error, either splitting you off from the other people or crashing the game. It's impossible to have the cheatpacks work without having everyone download the cheated map from you.
