Maphacking has little effect on the game. When you maphack, you make the map visible to yourself and even though you can see the entire map, it won't ruin anything else in the game.

However, if you were to change stats using an external cheating program, only your stats will be changed. Therefore, you'll have, say 50 damage, while everyone else on the map sees you with 10 damage, causing a massive desync.

I was actually talking specifically about hero stat editing, but okay, yeah.

The only possible hacks are ones that do not edit gameplay in any way. You can read memory and then export it to an external application and display it if you have some programming knowledge.

Oh... that's why I managed to use external application in single player and not in public...
